Cleaning up

All our drains flow into the lakes and it's important to keep these creeks and waterways litter free as they provide habitat for our wetland birds who feed along it's foreshores and dozens of species of smaller birds that inhabit the wetland. The lakes provide recreational pleasure for our many residents who enjoy paddling on it or excercising around it and using the parklands. By volunteering to help collect litter we are keeping our suburb and our waterways clean.

Something for the Kids who attend
Saturday 12th Jan
Ocean Life Show is an interactive 1 hour session which includes touch tanks, displays of animals and artefacts. This is to provide an opportunity for children who have volunteered on the day, with a chance to get up close and personal to some sea creatures, whilst learning about the impacts human litter and pollution has on our marine life. They can learn about some simple things they can do to help. The show starts after the clean up finishes at 10.30 am and will be held in Spring Lake Parklands.

Scouts to the Rescue!
Sunday 27th Jan
Once again the Redbank Plains Scouts will be lending a hand to help Clean Up Regatta Lake. The Cubs will be taking their canoes into the lake to fish out the litter lurking below the surface. Whilst the Joeys will be walking around the foreshore to collect litter from the parks and streets on the Peninsula.
We hope that some people with Kayaks can help clean up Discovery Lake, if we all do a little a lot can be achieved. If you have a large pool net it would certainly help to fish out the bottles and cans that are floating near the edge of Spring Lake. MacDonalds the National sponsor for Clean Up Australia Day has offered some free ice creams to the kids that come along to help.
So get on board and register to volunteer to help clean up your lakes and parklands to keep your community clean.
