As well as participating in the flagship Clean Up Australia Day event held on the first Sunday in March, we encourage communities, schools and businesses to organise their own Clean Up Day events at any time of the year.

We encourage communities, schools and businesses within the northern parts of Australia to organise a Clean Up site and get friends and family to participate in the 2010 Great Northern Clean Up over the weekend 11 - 12 September.

The Clean Up Australia Day event encourages and inspires thousands of Australians to take to their local park, beach, bushland and streets and really help make a difference.

Business Clean Up Day is designed for Australian businesses as a great opportunity to help improve the quality of the environment and work towards reducing waste, as well as being a great team building exercise.

Schools Clean Up Day is about inspiring the next generation to learn about their environment. Students, teachers and parents work together to clean up a site that is special for them.

A donation to Clean Up will assist us to work with communities as we help them learn to live with the challenges that a changing climate will bring.

In 1989 an 'average Australian bloke' had a simple idea to make a difference in his own backyard - Sydney Harbour. This simple idea has now become the nation's largest community-based environmental event, Clean Up Australia Day.
